SUMMARY:Listen to our young people
DESCRIPTION:Through the school climate strikes movement\, young people have been at the forefront of important shifts in attitudes to climate change worldwide\, as well as in Australia. They can be very powerful and effective messengers on social and environmental justice\, but they often aren’t asked what they think\, or given a chance to influence the decisions that affect them now and into the future. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is an opportunity to hear from a group of passionate young Blue Mountains people share what matters to them and what they want to see change. We have asked them what is it that we adults are getting wrong? What are we getting right? And what is it that we can do better? \nFeaturing Jasmine Cook from the Blue Mountains Youth Council\, representatives from MESCA (Macquarie Electorate Student Climate Activists) and more\, followed by a facilitated Q&A. \nWith Resilient Blue Mountains hosts: \n\n– Richard Keegan – Let’s Do This Podcast\, and\n– Serena Joyner\, co-Founder Resilient Blue Mountains\n\nPlease RSVP for Zoom Details: https://actionnetwork.org/events/listen-to-our-young-people

SUMMARY:Ancient Modern Marketplace
DESCRIPTION:Imagine you could find much of what you need\, all from people you trust\, in just 2 hrs while sitting at home! Yes\, an online human with human exchange. \n  \nAll of us have an amazing palette of gifts. Most of us don’t see our value. When we tap into our wealth of offers & recognise that we can fulfil up to 80% of each others’ local community needs\, we embark on a shared journey. We reshape ourselves & our relationships\, our economy\, the very way we do life. \n  \nCould we really see the challenge of these uncertain times\, as an opportunity to build the Blue Mountains’ community’s resilience? \n  \nPlease note: This is a “Pay What You Want or Can” event. Any payments made go directly to the workshop facilitator – juli. \n  \nTell me more! \nThe Offers and Needs Market (OANM)* is a guided process where community members come together to identify & exchange their passions\, knowledge\, skills\, resources & needs Whether for free\, barter\, or a set rate: each person controls the terms of exchange- not a system. Through OANM\, communities have uncovered what they thought was impossible. Participants have found employment and places to live\, started new businesses\, located items of need\, and initiated significant friendships. The process is a proven way to boost self-esteem and trust within communities\, while dramatically increasing the local sourcing of goods & services. \n  \nWe all have amazing things to offer. When we share what we have to offer\, life becomes simpler\, more enjoyable and more meaningful. \n  \nJuli is thrilled to be joined by Leanne Stevenson as tech wizard extraordinaire for our market. Leanne has experience with Ancient-Modern Marketplaces and is a passionate and attentive facilitator/ teacher. \nAs regards contribution\, we ask that you consider your position in the moneyed economy. There are many right now who do not have funds and we hope to be able to include everyone. So if you are one who is or was (now retired and comfortable) in the moneyed world\, kindly make a financial contribution so that collectively\, we can ensure that all are always able to CHOOSE to participate in a mutual aid marketplace. \nAll are welcome. No previous experience necessary. \nYou must register to attend! please RSVP here. \n  \n*Thanks to the Post Growth Institute for the foundations they paved with their original OANM structure. \n
