DESCRIPTION:Flower Pressing\nCreating art from pressed petals\nFor children 6yo +\nJoin Nicole B for a creative\, hands-on flower pressing workshop designed especially for children. Nicole is a community worker and art therapist with extensive experience teaching craft classes to both children and adults. With her warm\, encouraging approach and background working in schools\, she creates a welcoming space where young participants can explore their creativity and enjoy making something truly personal. \nDuring the session\, children will use beautifully pressed flowers to create their own decorative artwork to take home. Nicole will also demonstrate how flowers are dried and pressed\, giving children a glimpse into the process behind this timeless craft. It’s a fun\, calming and inspiring activity that combines nature\, art and imagination.

DESCRIPTION:Create Your Own Story\nCommence working on an imaginative Australian Fairy Tale\n8yo +\nGabe Marin is the author of twelve books\, (seven of which are children’s books published by Pearson Scholastic and Rockpool Press). She is also a Lecturer and Facilitator for various colleges and universities\, teaching Creative Writing (to children as well as Tertiary students) Film Appreciation and Script Development. She is currently completing her PhD at UWS with her most recent novel The Medusa Situation manifesting itself from an idea which came from work on her thesis. \nGabe’s 90 min session will enable children to commence working on an imaginative Australian Fairy Tale. Ideas and support gained through the workshop will enable the children to complete their unique story after they get back home.

Join us on Sunday 18 October 2026\, 1–4 pm\, in the Seminar Room at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre for an inspiring afternoon showcasing the winning entries. \nCelebrate the winning voices and visions selected by independent panels of three expert assessors across short stories\, poetry\, art and lyrics. \n\nYouth Awards: $250 for the winner in each of the four categories for participants under 18 years of age in 2026.\nAdult Awards: $250 for the winner in each of the four categories for participants aged 18 years and over in 2026.\n\nPrize winners will take centre stage to present their work after receiving their awards from generous sponsors including Susan Templeman MP\, Trish Doyle MP\, Gang Gang Gallery\, Blue Mountains Councillors and Bendigo Bank. \nAnthology copies purchased with tickets will be ready for collection after the launch. \nAdditional copies will also be available for purchase on the day for $25. \n\nA collaboration between The Enlivenment Network & Resilient Blue Mountains
